Health & Safety Insurance

Students who study abroad must be covered by emergency medical insurance inclusive of medical evacuation and repatriation coverage.

Lafayette Interim Programs

All students participating in an international Lafayette-sponsored winter or May/summer interim program are typically covered under the program at no additional cost. No registration is required to be covered by the insurance program. You can learn more about our insurance program, On Call International, below. Students participating in US-based off-campus programs should continue to use the US-based insurance plan they already have.

Lafayette Faculty-Led Semester Programs

All students participating in a Lafayette-sponsored faculty-led semester program (i.e. Lafayette Engineering in Madrid) are typically covered under the program at no additional cost. No registration is required to be covered by the insurance program. You can learn more about our insurance program, On Call International, below.

Affiliated Semester Programs

Many affiliated semester programs include/require enrollment in a health/safety insurance program for student participants. In this case, students will register for and utilize the program’s health/safety insurance plan. Any additional fees for this plan are the responsibility of the student. Program providers that typically include/require enrollment in their health/safety insurance program include:

  • AGE (Alliance for Global Education)
  • Augsburg College
  • CIEE
  • DIS (Danish Institute for Study Abroad)
  • IES
  • IFSA-Butler
  • Frontiers Abroad
  • Gonzaga University
  • SIT (School for International Training)
  • Spanish Studies Abroad
  • Sweet Briar College

For programs that do not include/require enrollment in their health/safety insurance plan, Lafayette can provide coverage via our On Call International Plan at no additional cost. No registration is required to be covered by this insurance program. Students who need to show a Proof of Coverage Letter to their program should contact the Office of International & Off-Campus Education.

Students studying on a US-based semester program should continue to use the US-based insurance plan they already have.
